Zeus Launch System — v0.6.7

Give Syndrome’s launch hardware a second career carrying Kerbal spacecraft!

Inspired by the Omnidroid v.10 deployment rocket from Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles, Zeus Launch System brings its clustered white tanks, ribbed skirts, swept fins, and distinctive silhouette to Kerbal Space Program.

The design combines custom rocket parts with externally supplied Bluedog Design Bureau engines and upper-stage hardware. Its propellant arrangement and spacecraft interfaces are adaptations for KSP.

Features

  • Central hydrolox tank: Contains "LqdHydrogen" and Oxidizer, with an attachment point for BDB’s M-1.
  • Six outer liquid-fuel tanks: Each contains LiquidFuel and Oxidizer, with a socket for a BDB F-1.
  • Permanent bolted construction: Structural brackets hold the outer tanks to the core while blocking crossfeed between their propellant systems. All seven tanks remain together throughout flight.
  • Connected M-1 thrust frame: Six support braces join a continuous load ring and central hub.
  • Modular DCSS interface: A hollow 16 m to 3.125 m adapter supports a BDB Delta IV interstage and DCSS arrangement.
  • Close-fit Pathfinder enclosure: A 14.6 m rounded-ogive fairing covers the native-size SPOCK Pathfinder and its main wings. Pathfinder’s own canted tail fins protrude through fitted openings surrounded by contoured cuffs.
  • Optional test payload: An inert, Omnidroid-inspired sphere and payload release ring.
  • Editable assets: OBJ/GLB exports and Python source tools are included.

Four example craft provide a bare stage, a BDB-equipped DCSS configuration, an empty Pathfinder mount, and a complete Pathfinder assembly. Preview images also show an Artemis Construction Kit Orion arrangement above DCSS.

Requirements

The target setup is KSP 1.12.5, BDB v1.14.0, and BDB’s required dependencies. Pathfinder configurations additionally require SPOCK 0.2.1 and its dependencies or higher. Artemis Construction Kit is used for the Orion preview only.

External engines, spacecraft assets, textures, and plugin binaries are not bundled.

Installation and upgrading

Copy "GameData/OmnidroidDeploymentBDB" into your KSP "GameData" folder, and place the supplied craft in your save’s "Ships/VAB" folder. Search OD10BDB or OD10XL in the editor.

Development status

This is an experimental pre-release. Static geometry, configuration, attachment, and sampled separation checks pass, but the mod has not yet been loaded or flown in KSP. Flight balance, structural behavior, resource flow, staging, and fairing shielding still require in-game testing.

Concept and reference brief by GroupJW. Credits to CobaltWolf and the BDB contributors, rogerwang86 and the SPOCK contributors, benjee10 for Artemis Construction Kit, and Daring Do Launch System — GroupJW, created with Codex for the adapter lineage.

Original code is GPL-2.0-or-later. Other original contributions are CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, subject to the included third-party licenses and notices.

An unofficial fan project inspired by The Incredibles.
