You may have noticed that the later nodes on the tech tree are relatively easy to unlock, since you already have the parts to go very far in the Kerbol system. This mod increases the cost of nodes by 15% for every higher tier (see formula below). This leaves the early tech tree relatively unchanged, while later nodes can become multiple times more expensive.
Hopefully, this provides a more elegant solution than simply, say, reducing science yield in settings, as such solutions often leave the early game unplayably hard, or at the very least, extremely tedious.
Formula used: New cost = Original cost * (1.15^Tier)
Example for a node on tier 5 (original cost is 90 science): New cost = 90 * (1.15^5) = 181 science
Raw stats are from the beginning of time until now. Each follower and download entry represents one hour of data. Uneventful hours are omitted.
